Ski Vacation - Sugarbush, VT
Monday, February 14, 2005, 8:11 AM
Left for Vermont Thursday February 10th
Got to mom's office to move our stuff over to mom's car for the ride up through the mountains.
Got to see Amanda at work too - haven't seen her in way too long...she's so cute.
:)
We packed up, and headed North. The more North we travelled, the more snow accumulated. Just beautiful...it was sticking to the trees perfectly...

We had a bit of a scary ride up - mom was white knuckled most of the way, but we made it there safely. Vermont is so beautiful. The rolling hills, the red roofed barns and silos and open snow covered fields...just breathtaking.
We got in around 10pm to their home

on the hills of Sugarbush, VT
Sugarbush
(left Rochester around 11am -LONG day) unpacked, and relaxed briefly and headed up to bed. Had to be rested for the next day of skiing!
Up and at 'em at 8am - We're off toBolton Valley, Vermont
Had so much fun getting back into the swing of things. Bolton Valley is an easier mountain than Sugarbush to get used to it again...it almost seemed too easy which I couldn't believe - but it was fun, and perfect snow conditions.
Here's Bob w/ a hot cocoa in the lodge after we took a break

Took only a few more pictures as I just wanted to SKI!
On our way back home - took a quick picturesque shot of Bob

And one of me resting in the snow

After heading home to a warm shower, we built a fire and had mom and peters friends - Bob and Sue over for dinner. (yup, same names).
They're a great couple....didn't get a shot of them - too busy enjoying mom's chicken parm! mmmmm
:)
We relaxed to a little t.v. by the fire after they left, and prepared for the big day of skiing at Sugarbush - Saturday.
Here's Bob and mom and Buds getting ready to go

Buddy was perfect as we left for the day...I'm so glad he was with us - he had fun out in the snow on walks, and exploring the house..
Anyways - off to the mountain!
Bob joined us at first - so the 4 of us skiied some green trails...
But then we signed Bob up for snowboarding lessons - my Valentines gift to him. I really wanted him to try it and he was so excited to.
Mom, Peter and I went off skiing some blues after that, while Bob took the lessons. I came back to meet him later and took a few shots - he looks like a natural doesn't he?

Click on the red "bob snowboarding" to see a movie of Bob snowboarding! (be patient while it loads - it will come up)
:)
Bob snowboarding
Go Bob!
We skiied together one more run and picture before heading back

and then headed back to the car to head home. One of my favorite trails is through the woods to get back to the car. It's secluded, and narrow - going over snowcovered bridges, and passing by condos right on the mountain. It's beautiful in there - and ended the day perfectly.
Once home, Bob and I took Buddy for long walk, and brought the toboggan with us to go sledding nearby!
Here's a few shots

Had a blast
:)
We headed back home - took a picture of a quiet knoll on our way back

and then got ready to go to a dinner with mom and peter's friends - a fancy French restaurant right on the mountain - Chez Henri
Snowflakes kept falling in front of the camera - this is the best shot I could get before I gave up

Isn't that cute how they have a little table out there w/ a tablecloth, and flowers in a vase covered with snow? Nice touch...
Bob got one of me before we left too

And one under the sign leading into the restaurant

We headed home, and had left over Tiramisu from the dinner before, and vegged on the couch before bed. Exhausted and muscles aching we headed up to bed.
Packed up the next morning - took a picture of mom in the kitchen

and then headed out for breakfast in Rochester, Vermont. Along the way - more snow-covered trees...passed a waterfall too! Once in the fall McE and I stopped there on our way up ..there is a wooden walkway you can take right up to the falls...just beautiful. The picture shows it covered in ice...I love when the ice turns blue.

Of course, had to get a "Moose Crossing" picture - never did see any, but one of these days I hope to

Here's the cafe we stpped at - quaint town, just like you'd imagine Vermont

Brought some leftovers out for Buddy, and headed back. (Grabbed a few maple syrups for later too and some Vermont post cards)
Said goodbye to Peter along the way, and then Bob joined us in mom's car. Eventually, they both fell asleep as mom and I chatted away.

Said our goodbyes to mom at her work and then headed to Clifton Park to meet up with dad, and McE for a little late lunch.
Dad had a chocolate basket of goodies from Pat, and a really soft teddy bear for me - so sweet. Thanks dad! Great to see you!
He and Mick talked shop (writing) and we caught up for a little while.
Mick's getting a root canal on Monday vs. Valentines day...so Happy Root Canal day Heim!
:)
See you soon too!
We said our goodbyes in the parking lot, and then headed back to Rochester.

Perfect drive - sunny, and crisp.
Will post more soon - celebrating Valentines day tonight with Bob...

Annas Home!
Monday, February 14, 2005, 8:03 AM
Saturday February 5th -
We picked up Bob's mom Anna from the airport - greeted with hugs, and "missed you's" and headed over to her house to drop off her things.
She found a bouquet of roses, and pictures of her grandchildren and family on the table to greet her.
Then we headed over to Lillians for dinner - a family again. It's not the same without her there...but she LOVES Arizona - "It's so beautiful there...the sun, the flowers..."
Here's a few pictures from the evening:

Welcome home Anna - we missed you!
